1. INTRODUCTION Interest in the potential of digital images has increased due to the rapid growth of imaging on the World-Wide Web. The need to find a desired image from a collection is shared by many professional groups: journalists, design engineers or art historians. Techniques for image retrieval based on images visual properties, like color, shape or texture have been proposed. Thus, a new domain named Content Based Image Retrieval appears. The earliest use of the term content-based image retrieval seems introduced by (Kato, 1992) to describe the automatic retrieval of images based on color and shape features.
